As a Test Automation Team Leader, you will be in charge of a team of automation engineers who are each an expert in their domain and part of a dedicated scrum team.
This is a managerial position with hands-on requirements - lead by example.
The location of the position is Sofia, Bulgaria, where we have a vibrant site in an excellent location with a passionate team of professionals.
In recent years, we reworked our automation infrastructure to the best in breed: with Playwright, TS, K8S env, and UI-less shift at our core, alongside other OSS industry standard solutions in our tech-stack. This means our automation engineers possess strong developer capabilities.
What youβll do:
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of automation developer engineers working on a large-scale Cloud product
- Drive the rapid acceleration of product releases, ensuring the highest standards of quality through a strong partnership with Development and Production teams.
- Serve as a key technical leader, collaborating with other Automation, Development, Product Management, and Customer Success teams to align on strategy and execution.
- Responsibility for high-profile projects, with a high focus on technical skills: CodeReview, Test Plan, and standards are maintained and improved.
- Lead the adoption and evolution of AI-driven quality engineering practices, leveraging generative AI and intelligent automation to accelerate releases, enhance test coverage, and proactively detect production risks.

Experience in automation, programming tools, infrastructure knowledge, advanced testing techniques, functional/non-functional, and an eagerness to challenge our product with a smile.
What will you need to have?
- Relevant technical degrees like Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, etc.
- At least 3 years of experience in managing a team of 4+ automation developers.
- 4 years of experience in Automation development in medium to large automation teams
- Proven strong background in Testing and automation methodologies and tools such as CI/CD, On SAAS Web-based product with large automation suites, concurrent execution
- Proven ability to leverage advanced AI/Generative AI practices for optimizing test suites, minimizing test plans, and coaching the team on AI-driven quality engineering.
- Possess a strong understanding and hands-on experience with REST API
- Substantial development experience using OOP languages like JavaScript / TypeScript / Java / Python
- Substantial experience with automation tools like Playwright / Cypress / Selenium / Puppeteer
- Familiarity with management models and the ability to practice them in day-to-day activities.
- Experience with cloud (AWS / GCP)
It is extra great if you have:
- Practical experience applying positive management philosophies, such as Management by Strengths, focusing on team empowerment and high performance.
- Familiarity with Playwright and TypeScript
- Experience with Agile methodology
- Basic Kubernetes and microservices knowledge
- Familiarity with reporting tools such as Report-Portal
