ABOUT ROOT
Root Financial is a fee-only RIA helping professionals in their 40s, 50s, and 60s retire earlier and with more confidence than they thought possible. We manage $2.6B for clients across the country and have built one of the largest financial planning audiences in the country with over 300,000 YouTube subscribers and a community of people who have already bought into what we do before they ever speak to us.
We don't cold call. We don't grovel to convince bad fit leads to sign on. Every person who reaches out to Root already knows who we are, believes in our approach, and is raising their hand.
Our job is to make sure the right people get to the right advisors. That's where you come in!
THE ROLE
We receive thousands of inbound inquiries each year from people who are ready to think seriously about their financial future. Many of them are a great fit for Root. Some aren't, at least not yet.
As our Client Onboarding Consultant, you are the first human conversation a prospective client has with Root. You run our Fit Call: a focused, substantive conversation that helps us understand where someone is, what they're trying to accomplish, and whether Root is the right fit for them.
This is a trust-building role. The person on the other end of that call is typically in their 50s or early 60s, has worked for decades to accumulate a few million dollars, and is making one of the most important financial decisions of their life. They deserve a conversation with someone who is sharp, unhurried, genuinely curious, and knowledgeable enough to speak their language.
When you find a great fit, you hand them to one of our advisors warm, context-rich, and ready to move forward. Our close rate on properly enrolled prospects is high. You are the reason for that.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Run 20+ Fit Calls per week with inbound prospects
- Quickly assess fit based on assets, timeline, goals, and personality
- Identify the specific financial pain points driving each prospect's interest
- Communicate Root's value proposition with clarity and confidence
- Navigate common objections around fees, investment minimums, and timing
- Match qualified prospects to the right advisor based on personality, availability, and expertise
- Document call notes and next steps in our CRM
- Coordinate follow-up with prospects who need more time before moving forward
- Disqualify non-fits with care. Every person should leave the conversation feeling heard, regardless of outcome
WHO YOU ARE
You have real experience in financial services. You understand the difference between a Roth conversion and a backdoor Roth. You know what sequence of returns risk means and why it matters to someone retiring at 58. Although youβll have one, you don't need a script to have a credible conversation about money with a high-net-worth individual.
You are poised. You don't get rattled by tough questions. You can sit across from a skeptical spouse, a couple with competing priorities, or someone who's been burned by an advisor before, and leave them feeling heard and confident.
You are a closer without being pushy. You believe in Root's approach and can articulate why it's different. You know that the best enrollment conversations don't feel like sales calls.
You are organized and process-oriented. You take clean notes. You follow up when you say you will. You understand that a warm handoff to an advisor requires real information, not just a name and a phone number.

A NOTE ON CULTURE
Root operates on a high-trust, high-accountability model. We are direct. We move fast. We expect people to take full ownership of the lane theyβre working in.
If you want a role where someone tells you what to do every day, this is not it. If you want a role where you have the autonomy to have a real impact on people's financial lives and be compensated well for doing it, we'd like to talk.
