Our client operates a furniture brand supported by a design-led team focused on developing distinctive, aesthetically driven pieces. They are expanding their creative capacity by adding a designer who can produce refined furniture concepts and high-quality 3D renderings to support internal ideation and production handoff. The environment is highly collaborative and centered on strong visual direction, thoughtful design, and cohesive product development. Location Remote | 9 AM - 5 PM EST Role Overview The Furniture Designer (Concept & 3D Visualization) will collaborate with the creative and design teams to develop original furniture concepts and translate them into polished 3D models and presentation-ready renderings. This role is focused on the creative side of furniture design, including form, proportion, style, finish direction, and visual storytelling. The Furniture Designer will support the transition from idea to clear visual design package for production partners, without owning manufacturing, engineering, sourcing, or factory coordination. Key Responsibilities CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT & DESIGN COLLABORATION - Participate in creative brainstorms and develop furniture concepts aligned with brand aesthetics. - Translate references, mood boards, sketches, and creative direction into original furniture designs. - Iterate quickly based on feedback, refining forms, details, and overall style. - Support collection development by designing cohesive families of pieces when needed. 3D MODELING & RENDERING (PRIMARY DELIVERABLE) - Create accurate 3D models of furniture pieces, including casegoods, seating, tables, and related categories. - Produce high-quality renderings that clearly communicate: - Proportions and scale - Finishes and material intent - Key design details - Overall visual appeal - Generate presentation-ready visuals for internal review and production handoff. - Maintain organized model files and version control across iterations. DESIGN DOCUMENTATION (LIGHT / HANDOFF SUPPORT) - Provide basic dimensioning and layout views as needed for handoff. - Prepare clear files and visuals to help production partners interpret the design intent. - Maintain design notes and revision history to support smooth collaboration. Qualifications EXPERIENCE - 2–3+ years of experience in furniture design, product design, industrial design, or a related field, with a strong portfolio showcasing furniture work. - Demonstrated experience producing 3D models and renderings as a core part of the design workflow. SKILLS - Strong aesthetic sensibility and proportion sense, with a high-end, design-forward taste. - Ability to take feedback constructively and iterate quickly without compromising quality. - Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional creative teams. - Strong attention to detail in modeling and presentation-quality visuals. - Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting, dimensions, and technical layout support where needed. - Proficiency in SketchUp or similar 3D modeling tools. - Experience with rendering tools such as V-Ray, Enscape, KeyShot, or comparable platforms. - Familiarity with Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) for presentation boards (bonus).
