Scopely is looking for a Senior QA Analyst to join our unannounced project team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis, working 3 days a week from the hub.
At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and aim to inspire play every day—whether in our work environments alongside talented colleagues or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing, and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.
We are in the early stages of development on an ambitious, unannounced, cross-platform Strategy/MMO title, creating a team of talented and passionate game makers to join us on this exciting journey!
What You Will Do
Reporting to the QA Manager, you will serve as a senior member of the QA team within a development pod(s), helping to drive quality strategy and ensure complex features meet Scopely’s high standards for player experience. You will take ownership of testing strategy, collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, and support the development of high-quality systems across the game.
• Feature Testing: Lead testing efforts for complex features and systems, validating functionality, performance, stability, and player experience across multiple platforms
• Quality Strategy and Planning: Develop and maintain testing strategies, test plans, and release validation processes that support feature delivery and long-term quality goals
• Test Framework and Documentation: Design and author comprehensive test suites for complex features and modules. Establish and maintain quality documentation, standards, and testing infrastructure
• Bug Tracking and Investigation: Monitor, investigate, and verify defects using JIRA or similar tools. Perform root cause analysis and provide clear, actionable reports that support efficient resolution by development teams
• Multi-Pod Support and Prioritization: Work effectively across multiple development pods or feature areas simultaneously, demonstrating strong context switching, prioritization, and adaptability
• Risk Identification and Mitigation: Identify quality risks early by analyzing feature requirements, system dependencies, and technical design. Partner with development leadership to mitigate risks that may impact delivery or player experience
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with designers, engineers, product managers, and other QA teams throughout development, particularly during early stages of pre-production, to ensure quality considerations are integrated into feature design
• Mentorship and Team Support: Guide less experienced QA team members on testing best practices, tools, documentation, and defect reporting. Provide constructive feedback and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
• Communication and Advocacy: Clearly communicate complex testing results, risks, and insights to stakeholders. Serve as a vocal advocate for quality across the team
What We’re Looking For
• Experience supporting live operations and Games-as-a-Service (GaaS) environments, including ongoing content updates, event releases, and maintaining quality in a continuously evolving player experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance, software development, or a related field
• Experience leading testing efforts or managing QA workstreams across projects or teams
• Strong understanding of game quality, system dependencies, performance considerations, and player experience across mobile and/or PC platforms
• Experience designing and maintaining test plans, test suites, and testing frameworks for complex features
• Experience managing external QA vendors or testers, including delegating test execution, providing clear guidance, answering queries, and analysing results to ensure high-quality outcomes
• Strong experience with bug tracking tools such as JIRA, including defect investigation and root cause analysis
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex information and testing insights
• Experience mentoring QA team members and contributing to collaborative team environments
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile development environment while exercising independent judgment and problem-solving
