About the Role
We are looking for a technical leader to join our team at SimplePractice. This role combines technical leadership with people management, where you'll lead a team of engineers, write code, make architectural decisions, and own the delivery of foundational infrastructure that every application team depends on.
Key Responsibilities
- →Lead the architectural design for scaling our data layer, making tradeoff decisions, and building proof of concept
- →Ship the first event-driven integration end-to-end
- →Write and review code, debug production issues
- →Establish documented, tested patterns for application teams to build on the platform
- →Partner with application teams during early integrations
- →Run weekly office hours for platform questions
- →Own the technical direction of the platform
- →Manage, mentor, and grow your engineers
- →Design and run quarterly developer experience check-ins
- →Represent the platform team in cross-functional discussions
Requirements
- ✓Experience with database sharding, replication, or horizontal scaling
- ✓Understanding of tradeoffs between consistency and availability
- ✓Experience with message brokers and event publishing patterns
- ✓Experience managing 2-5 engineers
- ✓Ability to think in systems, not just components
- ✓Clear communication to technical and non-technical audiences
