About the Role
We are looking for a Principal Engineer to join our team at SoFi, a next-generation financial services company and national bank. In this role, you will lead the design and evolution of our platform to support both on-prem and hosted customers, influencing technical direction and team operations across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- →Define and evolve the frontend architecture across web and mobile platforms
- →Collaborate with engineering leaders on digital platform architecture evolution
- →Build systems that deliver engineering efficiency and standardize non-functional requirements
- →Serve as a technical advisor to the Director of Engineering
- →Be hands-on developing software and set quality standards for teams
- →Define boundaries, APIs, and integrations between teams and clients
- →Solve complex engineering problems in distributed systems
- →Lead large-scale projects across multiple teams
- →Identify problems and opportunities, designing next-generation systems
- →Raise engineering quality standards and mentor teams
- →Provide strategic technical advice to leadership
- →Drive improvement initiatives across the department
Requirements
- ✓10+ years programming experience with mastery of software development
- ✓Advanced expertise in frontend platforms (mobile, web, SDKs, micro-frontends)
- ✓Experience with large-scale fault-tolerant distributed systems
- ✓Ability to translate product concepts into technical solutions
- ✓Experience with continuous delivery principles and techniques
- ✓High standard for system improvement and legacy system modernization
- ✓Strong judgment in driving critical technical decisions
- ✓Experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
- ✓Excellent communication skills (Spanish a plus)
- ✓Ability to lead technical direction across distributed teams
- ✓Experience with ReactJS, Java, NodeJS, and modern web technologies
- ✓Knowledge of browser internals, security practices, and API integration
- ✓Mobile development experience (ReactNative, Swift, Kotlin)
- ✓Familiarity with build tools (Webpack, Vite, npm/yarn/pnpm)
