About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Staff Data Engineer to be the technical leader of our Data Engineering group within the SoFi Data Platform (SDP) division. This role focuses on shaping the next-generation AI-powered SoFi Data Platform and elevating data reliability through AI-enabled workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- →Provide primary technical authority and strategic guidance to the data engineering group
- →Lead the architecture and delivery of large-scale, high-performance data pipelines and processing frameworks
- →Drive the adoption of cloud-native technologies, automation frameworks, and reusable components
- →Improve data reliability, cost-efficiency, and latency across the organization
- →Partner with business stakeholders, product, and engineering leads to align the data roadmap with business objectives
- →Implement sophisticated data privacy, security, and compliance frameworks
- →Provide technical coaching and mentorship to Staff and Senior data engineers
- →Contribute to hiring and training efforts to build a skilled data engineering workforce
- →Support critical production systems through on-call rotation
Requirements
- ✓Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field
- ✓Over 12 years of experience in data engineering and analytics, with at least 4 years in a staff-level or higher capacity
- ✓Mastery of the modern data stack: Snowflake, Python, SQL, GitLab, AWS, Airflow, and AI tools
- ✓Expert-level proficiency in relational and cloud database platforms and distributed processing frameworks
- ✓Thorough knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data architecture principles
- ✓Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- ✓Deep experience in a highly regulated and governed sector, with Fintech industry experience advantageous
