Stanley Consultants is seeking an experienced Project Manager to strengthen our water practice and support municipal clients throughout Iowa. As we continue to expand our presence in Iowa's water market, this leadership role will be instrumental in sustaining current client relationships while driving strategic growth across the region.
The Project Manager will lead the planning, design, and delivery of water projects for municipal utilities throughout Iowa. This position requires comprehensive oversight of all project phases, from initial planning and design development through construction administration and project closeout.
What You Will Be Doing:
Qualified candidates must demonstrate the following competencies and consistently perform these essential functions:
Project Management Excellence
β’ Effectively manage project scope, budget, and schedule across concurrent assignments
β’ Develop comprehensive project plans including detailed instructions, scope of work definitions, level of effort estimates, and accurate man-hour projections
β’ Maintain precise and current project accounting records for all assigned projects
β’ Ensure optimal time management and consistently deliver high-quality work products
β’ Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining quality standards
Client Communication and Reporting
β’ Conduct professional written or oral project reporting for clients and internal leadership
β’ Provide regular updates on design status, upcoming milestones, project financials, percent completion, and progress tracking
β’ Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related communications
Quality Assurance
β’ Develop, implement, and execute Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Plans
β’ Ensure all deliverables meet Stanley's quality standards and client expectations
Collaboration and Development
β’ Facilitate and lead internal and external project workshops and coordination meetings
β’ Pursue continuing education and professional development aligned with project requirements and team needs
β’ Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices
Technical Leadership
β’ Lead multidisciplinary project teams including civil, process, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation & controls (I&C) engineers, designers, and CAD technicians
β’ Oversee the development and delivery of diverse water sector projects across Stanley's Water Market
Required Qualifications:
β’ A minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in either Civil Engineering, or Environmental Engineering is required.
β’ A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with no less than 2 yearsβ experience working with project teams as project manager.
β’ Professional Engineer (PE) license in Iowa is required; or must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire date.
β’ Previous experience having been in responsible charge of designs, including detailed plans and specifications.
β’ Must have a basic understanding of the multi-disciplined practices (i.e. process, surveying, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & control) required for the implementation of water/wastewater infrastructure improvements.
β’ Must have strong communication skills.
β’ Must be proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook.
Ideal Candidate:
β’ Demonstrate advanced technical competency in civil , municipal, or water/wastewater engineering, with strong foundational knowledge of civil engineering principles
β’ Previous experience having been in responsible charge of designs including for water and wastewater collection, distribution, and/or pumping projects.
β’ Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
Stanleyβs Approach to Flexibility
While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
