About the Role
We are looking for a Head of Engineering, Platform to own and scale the Platform domain at Sully.ai. This role involves full technical and execution ownership for the platform's surface area, focusing on building AI teammates that augment clinicians.
Key Responsibilities
- →End-to-end engineering execution from architecture to delivery and reliability.
- →Implement step-function performance improvements targeting 50%+ latency cuts across AI workflows.
- →Develop observability, metrics, and model-selection systems that scale.
- →Establish engineering rituals like standups, backlog ownership, and cross-functional coordination.
- →Translate product goals into clear plans, timelines, and unblocked teams.
- →Create continuous quality pipelines ensuring accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
- →Maintain engineering standards across the stack including code quality, reviews, and operational rigor.
Requirements
- ✓Experience building something from zero and shipping it, as a founder, founding engineer, or first technical hire.
- ✓Proven ability to lead people and make them better, not just manage them.
- ✓Thrive in high-intensity, early-stage environments like YC, seed-stage, or zero-to-one companies.
- ✓Ability to operate with ambiguity, turning incomplete direction into clear technical plans and shipped products.
- ✓Default to leverage and simplicity with durable solutions and a sharp instinct for optimization vs. shipping.
- ✓Still write code, as this is a player-coach role, not a meetings role.
