About the Role

We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our team at Sumo Logic. This role focuses on maintaining and executing a reliability roadmap for our planet-scale observability and security products. You will work alongside a global SRE team to optimize operations, increase efficiency in cloud resource usage, and enhance security posture.

Key Responsibilities

→Support engineering teams by maintaining and executing a reliability roadmap for improvement in reliability, maintainability, security, efficiency, and velocity
→Collaborate with development infrastructure, Global SRE, and product area engineering teams to establish and refine reliability roadmaps
→Define, evolve, and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for several teams within your product area
→Participate in on-call rotations to understand operations workload and improve the on-call experience
→Complete projects to optimize and tune the on-call experience for engineering teams
→Improve the lifecycle of microservices and architectural components from inception through deployment, operation, and refinement
→Write code and automation to reduce operational workload and improve efficiency
→Work with developer infrastructure teams to advance reliability roadmaps
→Scale systems sustainably through automation and evolve systems to improve reliability and velocity
→Facilitate blame-free root cause analysis meetings for incidents
→Participate in global Incident Response Coordination (IRC) for all products
→Drive root cause identification and issue resolution with teams
→Hire and mentor new team members

Requirements

✓Cloud native application development experience leveraging best practices and design patterns
✓Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack
✓Deep understanding of AWS Networking, Compute, Storage, and managed services
✓Competency with modern CI/CD tooling like Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins
✓Experience with full lifecycle support of services, from creation to production support
✓Versed in Infrastructure as Code practices using technologies like Terraform or Cloud Formation
✓Ability to author production-ready code in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, or Go
✓Experience with Linux systems and comfort with the command line
✓Understanding and application of modern approaches to cloud-native software security
✓Experience with agile frameworks, such as Scrum and Kanban
✓Flexible and willing to step into new roles and responsibilities
✓Willingness to learn and use Sumo Logic products for solving reliability and security issues
✓Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or another scientific or technical discipline
✓8+ years of professional experience in applied software security roles
