About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join SumUp's Expansion Latam squad. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining software solutions that directly impact SumUp's growth in Latin America. This mission-critical role involves working with a varied product portfolio including Payments, Onboarding, Payouts, and Taxes.
Key Responsibilities
- →Take full ownership of the LATAM payments platform, improving its architecture, resilience, and security.
- →Lead the migration from legacy packages to VCX (Visa Clearing Exchange) and strengthen our VPC (Visa Platform Connect) implementation.
- →Introduce new tools and best practices to improve team productivity, resolve incidents, and reduce technical debt.
- →Work closely with Product Managers and global teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
- →Act as a technical reference and mentor for mid-level and junior engineers within the squad.
- →Identify opportunities to optimize workflows, such as automating clearing processes for major brands like Mastercard.
Requirements
- ✓Proven experience in code design, automated testing, CI/CD, performance optimization, and resilience patterns in distributed systems.
- ✓Advanced proficiency in Golang and/or TypeScript/JavaScript.
- ✓Deep understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), including schema modeling and query optimization.
- ✓Strong experience with microservices, scalability, and message queues (RabbitMQ or Kafka).
- ✓Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken).
- ✓Experience leading medium-to-high scale technical projects and a proactive "self-starter" mindset.
- ✓Comfort navigating ambiguity and complex payment flows across multiple markets.
