About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Toast's Care Experience team, transforming how we support customers across chat, voice, and agent-assisted channels. This high-impact role focuses on building intelligent platforms and tools that power support interactions, ensuring reliability, scalability, and AI-driven capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

→Design, build, and operate core components of Support Technology platforms
→Own and evolve backend services for chat, voice, and agent-assisted support channels
→Contribute to reliability, performance, and scalability of business-critical support systems
→Partner with product, design, AI, and operations teams to develop robust software solutions
→Develop and integrate AI-driven capabilities for support workflows
→Participate in technical design and architecture discussions
→Mentor other engineers through code reviews and technical guidance

Requirements

✓5+ years of experience in software engineering
✓Strong background building and maintaining production systems using Java, Kotlin, or other object-oriented languages
✓Experience designing and operating APIs and services
✓Proficient with AI tooling
✓Proven ability to own complex features or projects end-to-end
✓Experience shipping and operating business-critical systems
