About the Role
Treeswift is seeking a skilled and motivated Data Platform Engineer to join their mission-driven team. You will design, build, and maintain data pipelines at scale, working with Apache Airflow 3 on Astronomer to process terabytes of real-world physical data. This role involves developing and evolving DAGs that orchestrate complex workflows and collaborating with ML and hardware teams.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design, build, and maintain data pipelines at scale using Apache Airflow 3 on Astronomer
- →Develop and evolve DAGs that orchestrate complex, multi-step workflows
- →Work closely with the ML team and coordinate with the hardware team on ingestion and formats
- →Scale and harden the data platform, improving DAG design, execution, resource and cost tuning, reliability, and observability
- →Collaborate with full-stack and machine learning teams in a highly collaborative environment
- →Contribute to how we run Airflow and Kubernetes in the cloud
- →Work alongside ML engineers, hardware engineers, and software engineers
- →Manage complexity and provide high-fidelity data for better-informed decisions
- →Partner with some of the largest utilities in the country to develop new workflows
Requirements
- ✓Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- ✓4+ years of data engineering or backend engineering experience with a focus on pipelines, orchestration, or platform
- ✓Hands-on experience building and maintaining production data pipelines (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Luigi, or similar)
- ✓Experience with cloud object storage and data-at-scale (AWS and S3)
- ✓Comfort with Kubernetes and container-based deployments
- ✓Ability to own work end-to-end: design, implement, test, and operate pipelines and related tooling
- ✓Strong collaboration and communication skills
