Join the team as Twilio’s next Finance Manager, R&D.
About the job
Twilio is seeking a Finance Manager to join our Product Finance team. You won’t just be "crunching numbers"—you will be the primary strategic architect for the financial future of our Messaging channel. This is a high-impact, business-partnership-heavy role where you act as the lead strategic finance partner for the Messaging leadership team. You will provide the financial governance needed to turn technical product roadmaps into sustainable growth, ensuring our messaging channel remains both a market leader and a model of operational efficiency. While Messaging is your anchor, your influence is enterprise-wide. You will own a portfolio of strategic special projects, leading cross-functional teams to solve Twilio’s most complex scaling challenges and identifying untapped levers for growth and margin expansion.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
• Strategic Business Partnership: Serve as the lead finance partner to VP and Director level R&D leaders. You will influence strategy for the Messaging channel, while supporting and assessing the ROI of roadmap invesments
• Product Performance & KPIs: Define, track, and report on the "vitals" of the product. You’ll go beyond the spreadsheet to identify why certain metrics are moving and surface actionable insights for growth and cost optimization.
• Scenario Modeling: Build complex, flexible financial models to evaluate product launches, pricing changes, and key strategic initiatives. You’ll be the voice of reason (and data) when deciding which bets Twilio should double down on.
• Operational Excellence: Own the full forecast for Messaging channels. This includes top-line volume and COGS, ensuring high accuracy in a high-growth environment. Lead the monthly/quarterly close process for your business units, providing clear variance analysis and actionable insights to senior leadership.
• Strategic Special Projects: Act as a flexible resource for the Finance Director to lead high-stakes, cross-platform initiatives—ranging from strategic initiatives to long-range capital allocation—that fall outside of day to day Messaging scope.
Qualifications
Twilio values diverse experiences from all kinds of industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!
Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics or related field, or equivalent experience
• 6–8 years of progressive experience in FP&A, Strategic Finance, or Investment Banking.
• Mastery of Excel/Google Sheets for building multi-variable, driver-based models (e.g., usage-based revenue forecasting, unit economics, and complex COGS structures).
• High comfort level navigating large datasets. Proficiency in SQL (to query usage data) and Tableau/Looker (for dashboarding) is strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to act as a strategic Finance partner for VP-level stakeholders, translating technical R&D roadmaps into financial impact.
• Comfort with the ambiguity of a "business partnership heavy" role where the roadmap can shift based on market dynamics.
• Ability to manage the "standard" finance calendar (close/forecast) while simultaneously leading high-impact special projects.
Desired:
• Direct experience in a high-growth SaaS, Cloud, or Telecom environment is highly desirable.
• Anaplan and Oracle skills a plus
• Proven experience using AI tools to improve Finance operations
