The Skills Signals team at Udemy is building the core systems that define and manage skills across the platform. We empower learners to measure their skill growth through quizzes, practice tests, and assessments, and help them showcase their progress to the world. Key Responsibilities
- βDesign, develop, and maintain applications that support millions of learners and instructors globally.
- βCollaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ensure seamless backendβfrontend integration.
- βDrive modernization efforts by decomposing legacy systems and reducing technical debt.
- βImplement secure and scalable backend services and APIs, focusing on ensuring seamless front-end integration via GraphQL.
- βWrite clear, maintainable, and well-tested code, and participate in code reviews.
- βActively participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to team collaboration.
Requirements
- βB.S. degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- β4+ years of experience working across the stack, with strength in either frontend or backend.
- βProficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript and React on the frontend.
- βStrong backend development experience with languages and frameworks such as Kotlin, Python, or similar.
- βAbility to write clean, maintainable code and an understanding of basic testing practices.
- βStrong system design and problem-solving skills.
- βAbility to break down complex projects, prioritize, and deliver incrementally.
- βGrowth mindset, curiosity, and eagerness to mentor others.
- βPassion for Udemyβs missionβempowering instructors and learners globally.
- βEffective communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
