About the Role
As an engineer in the AML Risk team at Wise, you'll help detect and prevent money laundering while contributing to the mission of Clean Money without Borders. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Data Science, and Analytics to fight financial crime and respond to evolving trends in Money Laundering.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design and implement rules and features to maximize crime detection while minimizing impact on customers
- →Build a global money laundering detection system leveraging Machine Learning, LLMs, and real-time transaction monitoring
- →Identify suspicious money laundering activity early in the customer lifecycle
- →Maintain our robust rules ecosystem to ensure AML checks are completed within seconds
- →Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, data analysts, and other engineers
Requirements
- ✓Strong product mindset with data-driven decision making
- ✓Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts
- ✓Experience with Object-Oriented Programming Languages (JVM based languages a plus)
- ✓Experience with Event Streaming Platforms and microservices
- ✓Experience with relational databases, query optimization, and schema design
- ✓Ability to write testable code
- ✓Experience with CI/CD pipelines
- ✓Hands-on knowledge of system integration patterns
- ✓Commitment to best coding practices, code reviews, and open feedback
