About the Role We are looking for an experienced Java Engineer to join our team for a 12+ month contract. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend applications and RESTful APIs. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java • Build and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Spring Boot and Vert.x • Develop applications that integrate with Cassandra Database, including query design and data access • Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and reusable code following software engineering best practices • Apply appropriate design patterns and participate in code reviews • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues to ensure reliability and performance • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions • Leverage AI-enabled development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to improve development productivity Requirements • 6+ years of professional software development experience with Java • Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot • Experience with Vert.x • Solid experience with Cassandra Database, including query design and application integration • Experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs and REST Web Services • Strong understanding of clean code, design patterns, testing, debugging, and code reviews • Experience with version control tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or SVN • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot
