About the Role Spruce Technology Inc. is seeking an experienced Lead Java Backend Developer with expertise in Microservices, REST APIs, AI, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Key Responsibilities • Design and implement Java backend solutions using J2EE and enterprise backend development practices • Develop and maintain microservices architecture and REST API design • Integrate AI services and enterprise AI solutions • Implement Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, clients, and integrations • Utilize Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including GKE, Pub/Sub, IAM, and security controls • Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, and contribute to architecture • Ensure API security, data integrity, and transactional systems • Work in regulated environments following IRS Publication 1075, CJIS, HIPAA, or equivalent standards Requirements • 8+ years in Java backend development, microservices, and REST APIs • 3+ years in technical leadership or architecture • 2+ years in AI integration • 1+ year in MCP implementation or integration • 2+ years in GCP cloud-native architecture • 2+ years in regulated environments and data-integrity/API security controls Important Note Candidates must work onsite in Albany, NY, from Day 1.
