About the Role We are looking for an experienced Mainframe System z HCD Specialist for a remote opportunity with Pellera. This role requires strong expertise in IBM z/OS hardware configuration, IODF management, and dynamic I/O reconfiguration. Key Responsibilities • Design and maintain IBM System z I/O configurations for z/OS environments • Create, update, and manage Input/Output Definition Files (IODF) • Execute dynamic I/O configuration changes in production environments • Configure processors, channels, control units, and devices • Support FICON/ESCON connectivity and mainframe storage integration • Troubleshoot I/O path issues, device allocation errors, and hardware configuration conflicts • Maintain technical documentation and follow enterprise change management procedures Requirements • Strong IBM z/OS and IBM System z mainframe experience • Hands-on experience with Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD) • Practical knowledge of IODF, IOCP, and IOCDS • Experience with dynamic I/O configuration and reconfiguration • Knowledge of FICON/ESCON channels, control units, and storage devices • Strong troubleshooting and cross-functional collaboration skills • HCM experience and IBM Systems Programmer certification are highly desirable
