Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose and resolve complex PostgreSQL and Aurora performance bottlenecks in production environments.
• Analyze query execution plans, database load, wait events, locking, and infrastructure metrics to identify root causes.
• Optimize SQL queries, indexes, database configurations, and workloads for improved performance and reliability.
• Monitor and tune Aurora PostgreSQL clusters, replicas, failover mechanisms, and scaling configurations.
• Develop proactive monitoring, alerting, and automation to minimize recurring incidents and operational risks.
• Implement permanent fixes and performance improvements to strengthen database stability and availability.
• Leverage AWS telemetry and database monitoring tools to identify performance trends and prevent production issues.
Requirements
• Expert-level PostgreSQL administration experience supporting high-volume, business-critical production environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS RDS for PostgreSQL and/or Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Proven ability to diagnose complex performance issues across queries, databases, infrastructure, and applications.
• Advanced SQL tuning skills, including EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE, execution plans, indexing, join optimization, and query statistics.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Performance Insights / Database Insights to analyze database load, expensive SQL, wait events, and locking issues.
• Experience implementing proactive monitoring and alerting to detect potential database issues before they become production incidents.
