About the Role Varmoda Tech is seeking an experienced Power BI Developer for a long-term engagement supporting a public-sector client. This role requires strong expertise in Power BI development, SQL, data validation, and enterprise reporting solutions. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Power BI dashboards and reports • Build complex custom Power BI visualizations • Perform data validation and reconciliation across multiple data sources • Develop and optimize SQL queries using Azure SQL Server and T-SQL • Migrate legacy Tableau and Crystal Reports to Power BI • Configure Power BI Service, workspaces, gateways, security, and access controls • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and data refresh strategies • Create technical documentation and business rules • Lead training, mentoring, and knowledge transfer sessions • Communicate project progress and updates to stakeholders Requirements • 6+ years of advanced Power BI development experience • Strong hands-on experience with DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling • Student loan or financial aid data validation experience, including forbearance data (mandatory) • Strong Azure SQL Server and T-SQL experience • Experience migrating Tableau or Crystal Reports to Power BI • Expertise in Power BI Service administration and governance • Knowledge of Power Apps and Power Automate • Experience with data quality, performance tuning, and accessibility standards • Excellent communication and documentation skills Preferred Qualifications • Experience in State Government, Higher Education, or Financial Services • PL-300, DP-900, DP-203, or Power Platform certifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
