About the Role We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead the modernization of legacy enterprise platforms into cloud-native architectures using AI coding agents and agentic engineering workflows. Key Responsibilities • Lead the modernization of legacy enterprise platforms (COBOL, Mainframe, IBM i/AS400, monoliths) into cloud-native architectures • Work directly with business stakeholders, Microsoft, vendors, and implementation partners on large-scale transformation programs • Drive architecture and engineering best practices while staying hands-on in the code • Utilize AI coding agents and agentic engineering workflows to accelerate delivery Requirements • 15+ years of professional software engineering experience • Proven track record delivering enterprise software from concept through production • Experience modernizing legacy platforms such as COBOL, Mainframe, IBM i/AS400, or similar • Experience on large-scale implementation and transformation programs • Experience with high-volume transactional, claims, payment, healthcare, financial, or mission-critical systems • Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and drive outcomes • Technical expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices • Experience with Azure Cloud Services, Golang and/or Python, Databricks and MongoDB • Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization, API-first and event-driven architectures • Familiarity with React and modern web frameworks, CI/CD and DevSecOps practices • Understanding of Enterprise integration patterns, Performance optimization, scalability, observability, and operational monitoring • AI engineering expertise with GitHub Copilot Enterprise, OpenAI/Codex tooling, Claude, autonomous coding agents, and AI-assisted SDLC platforms
