About the Role We are hiring a hands-on Amazon SageMaker HyperPod Architect to lead a foundation platform build for a top Pharma client. The client is consolidating R&D, clinical, modeling, and genomics workloads from on-prem HPC and EC2 onto HyperPod. Key Responsibilities • Assess current HPC/EC2 workloads and design the target HyperPod architecture (Slurm or EKS, GPU/CPU, EFA, FSx for Lustre, S3) • Build clusters with IaC, with security, multi-tenancy, observability, and cost controls • Integrate with enterprise data science platforms such as Domino Data Lab • Lead the offshore team and present to client technical leadership Requirements • 10+ years in cloud, HPC, or ML platform engineering, 5+ on AWS • Hands-on production experience with SageMaker HyperPod (must have) • Slurm, MPI, Lustre/FSx, EFA, and GPU cluster operations (CUDA, NCCL) • Kubernetes/EKS with GPU scheduling • Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK; AWS IAM, VPC, KMS, and multi-account design • On-prem HPC to AWS migration experience • Strong client-facing communication Nice to have: life sciences R&D workloads (genomics, cryo-EM, modeling), Domino Data Lab, GxP, ParallelCluster/AWS Batch, distributed training (PyTorch FSDP, DeepSpeed), AWS Professional or ML certifications.
