About the Role We are looking for an experienced Search Engineer to join our team in Austin, TX. This is a long-term contract position requiring hands-on expertise in Solr and/or OpenSearch administration in production environments. Key Responsibilities • Administer Solr and/or OpenSearch in production environments • Manage clusters on AWS and non-AWS cloud platforms • Implement CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code • Monitor and optimize system performance using tools like Prometheus and Grafana Requirements • 4+ years of production experience administering Solr and/or OpenSearch • Strong Java and Python skills • Knowledge of distributed systems: sharding, replication, consistency, and cluster topology • AWS experience: EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, and CloudWatch • Experience managing clusters on GCP • REST APIs, Query DSL, index management, and ILM/ISM policies • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot • CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) • Docker, Kubernetes, troubleshooting, and performance tuning • Monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch • Git-based version control and code review workflows
