About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Backend Engineer for a 9+ month contract opportunity. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, AWS, and scalable distributed systems. Key Responsibilities • Design and implement scalable distributed backend systems • Build high-throughput, low-latency data pipelines using Apache Kafka • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and services • Lead technical design discussions and provide technical leadership • Collaborate with product and frontend teams on technical requirements Requirements • 10+ years of backend development experience • Strong Java 17/21 and Spring Boot expertise • Apache Kafka experience building high-throughput, low-latency data pipelines • Strong AWS cloud experience • Hands-on Python development • SQL and NoSQL database experience • Expertise in scalable, distributed backend system design • Technical leadership with a strong hands-on engineering focus NICE TO HAVE • Experience with LLMs and AI agents • Conversational AI and AI-powered applications • Databricks experience
