About the Role We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team and work on a federated GraphQL platform. This role involves developing and operating scalable GraphQL Federation platforms and distributed backend services. Key Responsibilities • Design and develop scalable GraphQL Federation platforms and distributed backend services • Evaluate, extend, and optimize GraphQL routers for performance, scalability, reliability, and extensibility • Implement router-level capabilities such as authentication, caching, observability, and query governance • Troubleshoot production issues, monitor service health, define SLOs, and participate in on-call support • Make architectural decisions and solve complex technical problems Requirements • Strong experience designing, developing, and operating scalable GraphQL Federation platforms • Hands-on expertise in Apollo Federation, Apollo Router, federated schema composition, query planning, and subgraph architecture • Strong understanding of GraphQL resolvers, schema design, entity relationships, API contracts, and cross-subgraph query execution • Experience with Node.js/TypeScript, Java/Spring, Scala, or similar technologies • Understanding of distributed systems, fault tolerance, resilience, and zero-downtime deployments • Experience benchmarking and optimizing latency, throughput, resource utilization, and overall platform performance • Strong architectural decision-making, problem-solving, debugging, and technical communication skills
