Medical Translation Network

The Medical Translation Network proudly introduces Astrid de Bruin, one of our experienced team members.

Astrid translates medical texts from French, English, and Spanish into Dutch. Her love of languages and talent for Dutch and foreign languages set her on the path to becoming a translator. She graduated from the Translation Academy in Maastricht in 2001, followed by a degree in Communication Sciences at Tilburg University in 2004.

After living in several European countries, Astrid settled in Seville in 2010, where she began working as a freelance translator. Over time, her focus shifted more and more toward medical texts. In 2018, she decided to fully dedicate herself to medical translation—a decision supported by specialised training and extensive project experience.

Today, Astrid works in a wide range of fields, including gynaecology and obstetrics, medical devices, oncology, paediatrics, and urology. She enjoys the unique blend of language, culture, research, reading, writing, and problem-solving that translation offers.

Astrid often works independently on projects, but she is also eager to collaborate with colleagues on large-scale medical translations, combining their expertise for the best results.
