Japanese Translator - Malaysian Only Salary:MYR 7K (MAX) Location: Kulim
Job Purpose: To serve as the main communication bridge between Japanese expatriates and local staff, particularly in a production environment. The role also includes supporting departmental operations as needed, depending on experience and company needs.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Translation & Interpretation • Translate documents (manuals, SOPs, reports, emails) accurately from Japanese to English/Bahasa Malaysia and vice versa. • Provide real-time interpretation during meetings, trainings, audits, and production floor discussions. • Support communication between Japanese management and local staff. 2. Production Support (if applicable) • Assist in coordinating production activities, quality checks, and reporting based on instructions from Japanese staff. • Provide language assistance during machine installation, maintenance briefings, or process improvement discussions. • Monitor and support compliance with safety and operational procedures, especially when interpreting technical instructions.
3. Administrative & Operational Suppor • Support documentation, reporting, and coordination tasks within assigned department (e.g., HR, QA, Production, Engineering).
• Liaise with external vendors, customers, or government bodies when translation or Japanese language support is required. • Perform other duties or tasks assigned by superior that align with the candidate’s experience and skills.
Requirements: • Fluent in Japanese (spoken and written) – JLPT N2 or higher preferred. • Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia. • Minimum 2 years of working experience in a manufacturing or production environment. • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams. • Able to work independently and handle sensitive or confidential matters. • Willing to support other departments where translation is not the main task. • Computer literate (MS Office, email, basic documentation).
Additional Advantage: • Experience in quality control, production planning, or engineering support roles. • Familiar with Japanese work culture or Kaizen practices. • Able to handle multiple tasks and flexible in adapting to operational needs.
