When was the last time you paused to reflect?

Last weekend in Dordrecht, I found myself sharing a peaceful twilight moment with a grey heron, as the waters lapped at the spot where three rivers meet at the old city gate

For me, it was special - herons are rare where I live

Later when I mentioned this to a local, they laughed. “Those birds? They’re everywhere here. Almost a nuisance.”

The contrast in how we saw this struck me

What feels rare and precious to one person, can be ordinary or just a daily occurrence to another

The same is true with work. If you’re having days that aren’t stressful, that feel genuinely satisfying or even fun, take a moment to appreciate it. Be grateful for it.

Because for many people - especially in freight forwarding - that kind of day is a rare bird

For them the pressure never lets up. There’s no space to pause, let alone enjoy their work
