Editor Job
We’re excited to announce that two vacancies have become available for a senior and junior editor to join our senior editorial board at the journal, with a starting date of January 2026. We encourage academics from all backgrounds to apply for these positions and a description of what we are looking for can be found below ⬇️
Senior Editor - targeted at an established scholar: Candidates need to have a significant number of peer-reviewed publications and be scholars of considerable standing within the field of Sports History. They should also have some editorial experience (for example, serving on an editorial board or reviewing for several different journals), and be willing to actively contribute to improving editorial process, author relations, readership/engagement, and the journal.
Junior Editor - targeted at Early Career Scholars. Candidates must possess a PhD in History, Sports Studies, or a related field, have experience of peer reviewing and have authored several peer-reviewed articles and/or a book in the field.
The journal are especially looking for at least one editor (from the above) to have expertise in sports history from outside of the British Isles and would be particularly open to editors with a diverse range of specialisations, interests or areas of expertise. In both instances, we are looking for editors who are reliable, have a passion for editing, and give consistent attention to detail in written work.
Applicants should submit a condensed CV (max. 2 pages) and a short cover letter (max. 1page) explaining why they feel suitable for the role. The deadline is the 30th November 2025.
