📌 Job Opportunity – Technical Writer Client: Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) Location: Tallahassee, FL – Onsite Duration: Through 6/30/26 Visa: U.S. Citizen & Green Card only Role Overview The Technical Writer will serve as the primary communication link for the project team, developing, maintaining, and updating technical, business, and user documentation for IT projects while ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with FDC and PMO standards. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain technical documentation for IT projects. Create business documentation such as project plans, business cases, and requirements documents. Produce user guides, manuals, and training materials. Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and developers to gather and verify technical details. Update and revise documentation throughout project lifecycles. Utilize documentation tools and software effectively. Conduct interviews and research for accurate content creation. Review and edit documentation from other contributors. Ensure compliance with PMO standards and Florida Administrative Code. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technical Writing, Business Administration, or related field — OR 3 years equivalent experience. 3+ years proven technical/business writing experience. Strong understanding of technical concepts and ability to create user-friendly documentation. Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently on multiple projects. Experience preparing status reports and facilitating meetings. Ability to document user stories and IT system requirements. Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall). Preferred Skills Technical Writing certification. State or federal government IT project experience. Familiarity with CMS, version control systems, and ERP systems. Proficiency in BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), data analysis tools (SQL, Python, R, SAS). Understanding of cybersecurity principles. Ability to create multimedia content (video tutorials). Knowledge of UX design principles.
