Software Engineer Job

New Role – NYC – Lead Software Engineer - Hedge Fund – Senior IC – AI Engineering & Backend Architecture

They're looking for a Senior Engineer who can design distributed systems, build production-grade services, and shape the technical foundation for AI capabilities across the firm. This is a hands-on IC role working across research & operations, with meaningful ownership of core platforms and application frameworks.

The remit includes architecting scalable backend systems, building APIs and orchestration layers for model integration, optimising reliability and performance, and designing data transformation pipelines that connect a wide range of internal tools. You’ll also contribute technical leadership by guiding design patterns, reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and driving alignment on architectural decisions.

You'll need strong Python and backend framework expertise, deep familiarity with API design, cloud infrastructure, and containerised deployments, and solid Kubernetes and data engineering knowledge. Experience with distributed systems, event-driven patterns, or integrating ML/NLP models into production is a big plus, as is exposure to quantitative or financial data environments.

This is a high-impact role with visibility and a chance to shape foundational AI systems within a top firm in Manhattan.

Comp range is $450-600K TC
