DevOps Engineer Job

Title: Senior Cloud Engineer Location: Toronto or Mississauga (hybrid) Duration: Full time

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure (AWS) Design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform or CloudFormation Ensure high availability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency across AWS environments Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and applications Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, New Relic) Database Management Administer PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and integrate Snowflake within AWS Monitor database performance, replication, and reliability Design and implement backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies Automate database provisioning and maintenance with IaC and scripting Security & Compliance Implement IAM, VPC, encryption, and AWS security best practices Ensure compliance with SOC2, HIPAA, PCI‑DSS, and other regulatory frameworks Collaboration & Leadership Mentor junior engineers on cloud infrastructure best practices Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to support deployments Participate in on‑call rotations and lead incident response for infrastructure/database issues

Qualifications/Experience:

7+ years in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or cloud operations 5+ years managing databases in production environments 3+ years hands‑on with AWS services (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Lambda, Terraform/CloudFormation)

Technical Skills

Expertise in AWS infrastructure design and automation Strong database administration skills (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Snowflake) Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) Knowledge of containerization & orchestration (Docker, ECS, or similar) Experience with CI/CD pipelines Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools (CloudWatch, New Relic) Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash)

Preferred Certifications

AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (plus, not required) Soft Skills Strong problem‑solving and analytical thinking Ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers Effective communication and cross‑team collaboration
