How do you manage time off over the festive period?🎄

For me, it seems to have changed every year that I’ve been freelancing.

Some years, I’ve strictly taken two weeks off not working at all, with an out of office in place.

Others, I’ve played it more by ear and accepted some work over the Christmas period, but not overwhelmed myself with lots of projects.

This year I’m taking something closer to the second approach and there’s a few reasons for that:

🎄The past few months have been extremely quiet for me, and I just cannot really afford to be turning down work, even if it requires working close to Christmas. 🎄Working with TV series means not being available for one episode means that you’re not available for a whole series. I don’t want to lose out on a whole series just because one of the episodes falls close to Christmas. 🎄I’ve already agreed to some deadlines at the end of December. If these are the only projects I work on in that time, great, but if more projects come in, if I’m already in work mode, then why not? 🎄As a freelancer I can be flexible to allow me to work AND enjoy the festivities. I can work just a morning if I have afternoon plans or vice versa, or work in the evening if I have daytime plans.

So, if you’re looking for a French or Italian into English translator or subtitler in the next few weeks, don’t hesitate to reach out!
