About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Tunneling Designer to join our growing Tunneling Practice in Burnaby, British Columbia. This role involves assisting senior engineers in the design of microtunnels and shafts, conducting structural and geotechnical analyses, and supporting project teams with technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- →Assist in the design of microtunnels and shafts under the guidance of senior engineers
- →Use commercial software tools to conduct basic structural and geotechnical analyses
- →Develop and verify calculations for structural and geotechnical verifications
- →Provide input on soil and rock mechanics, ground-structure interactions, and underground engineering principles
- →Assist in preparing technical inputs for tunnel proposals
- →Contribute to the design of SOE systems for shafts, pump stations, and cut-and-cover structures
- →Participate in Health & Safety reviews, constructability assessments, and risk management planning
- →Support the preparation of design reports, technical specifications, and drawings
- →Work closely with other engineers, professionals, and clients to ensure project alignment and integration
Requirements
- ✓Experience in shafts and microtunnels design
- ✓Knowledge of geotechnical and structural analysis for infrastructure programs
- ✓Familiarity with commercial software tools for structural and geotechnical analyses
- ✓Understanding of soil and rock mechanics, ground-structure interactions, and underground engineering principles
- ✓Ability to prepare technical inputs for tunnel proposals
- ✓Experience with design reports, technical specifications, and drawings
- ✓Strong collaboration and communication skills
