About the Role

AssemblyAI is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to accelerate our AI research-to-production pipeline. This role involves building and improving infrastructure that enables rapid deployment and testing of new models while ensuring production systems remain efficient, scalable, and reliable.

Key Responsibilities

→Design and implement tooling for researchers to quickly deploy and evaluate new models in production
→Build and maintain high-performance, cost-efficient inference pipelines
→Identify and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks to improve iteration speed and production reliability
→Develop and maintain user-facing APIs for ML systems
→Implement observability solutions to monitor model performance and system health
→Troubleshoot complex production issues across distributed systems
→Set direction for MLOps practices to reduce friction between research and production
→Collaborate with research and engineering teams to align on technical direction

Requirements

✓Strong backend engineering experience with Python
✓Experience building and operating distributed, containerized applications on AWS
✓Proficiency implementing observability solutions for production systems
✓Ability to design and implement resilient, scalable architectures
✓Track record of independently delivering complex technical projects
✓Comfort navigating ambiguity and making technical decisions with evolving requirements
