About the Role
The Design Lead (Electrical - DC) will be responsible for reviewing and executing engineering activities for solar PV power plants. This role involves managing the full engineering cycle from pre-bid to commissioning and warranty periods, leading a team of design engineers, and ensuring high-quality engineering within budget and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- →Timely delivery of engineering drawings and documents
- →Ensure deliveries are aligned to project schedule
- →Review drawings by design engineers and draughts persons
- →Check design and sizing calculations of engineering electrical equipment
- →Obtain approvals from the client
- →Review vendor deliverables pertaining to engineering
- →Estimate and plan man-hour requirements
- →Review BOQ and submit to contracts team
- →Coordinate with multiple disciplines for inter-departmental checks
- →Provide support and clarifications to the site execution team
- →Check pre-award evaluation of vendors and forward validation documents
- →Inspect equipment from finalized vendors
- →Clarify design and client requirements to the site execution team
- →Collect project details from clients and project engineering managers
- →Coordinate with operations team for design specifications approval
- →Check deliverables such as cable routing layout, cable tray layout, earthing layout, and lightning protection layout
- →Provide support to electrical AC, civil/structural for reviewing vendor drawings
- →Submit man-hour requirements for design and drawing reviews
Requirements
- ✓Capable of multitasking and delivering multiple tasks on time
- ✓Experience in BIM 3D modeling for PV solar power plants
- ✓Strong understanding of engineering activities for solar PV power plants
- ✓Experience with generation estimates, overall plant layout, DC SLD, solar module selection, inverter sizing, SMB, earthing layouts, and cable sizing calculations
- ✓Knowledge of civil/structural, instrumentation, and MEP disciplines
- ✓Ability to lead a team of design engineers and draughts persons
- ✓Experience with pre-bid engineering, commissioning, and warranty periods
- ✓Strong communication and coordination skills
- ✓Ability to manage engineering activities within budget and on time
