About the Role
Astronomer is seeking a Staff Product Designer to shape how data engineers and Airflow users interact with their Astro platform. This role involves working on complex product areas spanning IDE experiences, workflow orchestration, and platform usability.
Key Responsibilities
- →Own end-to-end design for complex product areas from discovery through execution
- →Partner with product managers and engineers to shape product direction
- →Design workflows and interfaces for highly technical users
- →Lead user research and discovery efforts
- →Contribute to and evolve design systems
- →Use data and experimentation to iterate on designs
- →Communicate design rationale to cross-functional partners
Requirements
- ✓7+ years of experience as a product designer on complex SaaS or platform products
- ✓Experience designing complex product experiences for developer tools
- ✓Ability to independently own problem spaces and drive design work
- ✓Strong product thinking with a track record of balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
- ✓High craft in interaction design, information architecture, and visual design
- ✓Comfort collaborating closely with engineers
- ✓Clear and thoughtful communication skills
- ✓User-centered mindset grounded in empathy and continuous learning
