ABOUT BASE
Base is Americaβs next-generation power company. Weβre rebuilding the foundation of modern civilizationβelectricityβby deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming todayβs fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Base is looking for an Operations Manager to lead our Dallas-Fort Worth, TX market. This is a foundational leadership role responsible for the full operational footprint in the region: warehouse and materials operations, field installation crews, and everything in between. You'll own the end-to-end execution of getting Base systems into homes β from the moment parts arrive at our warehouse to the moment a customer's battery is energized and inspected.
The ideal candidate is a proven operational leader who is equally comfortable on the warehouse floor, on a job site, and in a planning meeting. You bring structure to ambiguity, scale what works, and fix what doesn't β fast. This role is not a desk job. It requires deep presence in the field and the warehouse, strong cross-functional communication, and the ability to build a high-performance team culture from the ground up in a new market.
What You'll Do
Regional Leadership
- Own all operational outcomes for the DFW market, including installation volume, warehouse throughput, quality, safety, and customer experience
- Serve as the senior operational leader on the ground, accountable for daily execution and long-term market scalability
- Act as the primary liaison between DFW operations and Base's central teams in Austin, including supply chain, engineering, and product
- Establish and track market-level KPIs across field and warehouse functions, driving continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making
- Represent Base with local AHJs, utility partners, and inspectors as needed
Field Operations
- Oversee field installation and service crews, ensuring installations are completed safely, on schedule, and to Base's quality standards
- Partner closely with the Lead Electrician to maintain NEC compliance, manage inspection outcomes, and resolve field escalations
- Manage crew scheduling, capacity planning, and subcontractor relationships to hit weekly and monthly installation targets
- Drive a culture of safety, technical excellence, and accountability across all field personnel
- Develop and refine the field operations playbook as the market scales
Warehouse & Materials Operations
- Oversee warehouse operations including receiving, inventory control, kitting, and line-side delivery to support field crews
- Maintain high inventory accuracy through disciplined cycle counts, FIFO enforcement, and ERP/WMS transaction hygiene
- Ensure material availability never becomes a bottleneck for field installation capacity
- Supervise warehouse personnel and establish performance expectations, schedules, and safety standards
- Identify and eliminate inefficiencies in material flow and warehouse layout as volume grows
People & Culture
- Recruit, develop, and retain warehouse staff, field technicians, and support personnel
- Lead by example with strong floor and field presence β this is a hands-on leadership role
- Deliver regular performance feedback, resolve conflicts, and manage corrective actions when needed
- Build a team culture aligned with Base's values: ownership, speed, direct feedback, and mission commitment
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in operations, with demonstrated leadership over both field service and warehouse/logistics functions
- Proven track record managing multi-functional teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Strong understanding of inventory control, material flow, and production or installation support operations
- Experience with ERP/WMS systems (Odoo, SAP, NetSuite, or similar) and field service management tools
- Familiarity with electrical systems, battery storage, solar, or skilled trades operations strongly preferred β you don't need to hold a license, but you need to be able to lead people who do
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills and comfort operating with limited oversight in a remote market
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or non-standard schedules during peak periods or market ramp-up
- Based in or willing to relocate to the DFW area
- Willingness to spend time in Austin, TX during onboarding to learn Base's systems, products, and operating model
About the Team
The DFW Operations team is being built from the ground up. As Operations Manager, you are the cornerstone of that build β responsible for establishing the culture, systems, and execution engine that will define Base's presence in DFW. An exceptional candidate will be energized by that complexity, not intimidated by it. You'll have the full support of Base's central teams and the autonomy to make the market work.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
