About the Role
Blackbird Interactive is seeking an experienced Systems Designer to join their creative game studio. You will help build and deliver deep, scalable gameplay systems for a science fiction universe, focusing on player-driven exploration and emergent play.
Key Responsibilities
- →Collaborate with level design, quest design, art, engineering, and production to implement the creative vision through gameplay systems
- →Design and implement systemic gameplay features such as progression mechanics, combat systems, and exploration mechanics
- →Own systems end-to-end, from early design through implementation, iteration, balance, and polish
- →Implement systems directly using in-engine tools and scripting workflows
- →Build and maintain system logic that interacts correctly with other gameplay systems
- →Test, debug, and iterate on systems regularly
- →Respond constructively to feedback from design leadership
Requirements
- ✓Minimum 8 years of experience in game development with focus on systems or gameplay design
- ✓Experience shipping at least one systems-heavy title, preferably in RPG or open-world space
- ✓Ability to work independently on features and solve design challenges
- ✓Strong collaboration and communication skills
- ✓Familiarity with logic-driven tools, scripting concepts, and state-based systems
