About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our GraphQL team at Block, Inc. This role involves building and scaling GraphQL infrastructure that powers applications across Block's ecosystem, including Square, Cash App, and other business units. You will be part of a centralized platform team that connects and empowers product engineering teams across all brands.
Key Responsibilities
- →Lead the design and implementation of core GraphQL platform features, including API gateway capabilities, schema management tools, and developer SDKs
- →Drive platform architecture decisions and implement solutions that scale across Block's ecosystem
- →Collaborate with product teams across Block to understand their needs and build solutions that promote both internal and external API capabilities
- →Proactively identify, design, and implement performance monitoring, optimization, and reliability improvements for the GraphQL platform
- →Mentor other engineers across the organization in GraphQL best practices
Requirements
- ✓8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- ✓Strong knowledge in one of Typescript or Kotlin (or a similar language)
- ✓Experience designing, building, and maintaining API platforms, including developer tools, SDKs, and documentation
- ✓Experience driving technical decisions across an organization and mentoring engineers
- ✓Experience with scaling and operating distributed systems handling high traffic volumes
- ✓Appreciation for details and helping teams collaborate more effectively and efficiently
