About the Role
We are looking for a Frontend Developer to join the Editing Performance team at Canva. This role focuses on designing, developing, and deploying solutions to make the Canva editor fast and scalable for users worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- βDesign, develop, and deploy solutions with hands-on software development
- βWork closely with leads, designers, and product managers to deliver features and experiments
- βPrimarily work on web frontend with Typescript, but may need to work with other languages and environments
- βFacilitate knowledge sharing and advocate for engineering needs to non-technical team members
- βModel initiative and ownership in achieving goals, improving processes and solutions
- βFind opportunities for cross-team collaboration to work on new insights and improvements
Requirements
- βCommercial experience in a software development environment, ideally with experience in building internal/external SDKs or APIs
- βExperience in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, TypeScript, MobX would be valuable but is not required
- βFirmly grounded computer science and engineering fundamentals including asynchronous programming, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns
- βUnderstanding of browser rendering pipeline, event handling, WebWorkers, WebGL/WebGPU would be a bonus, but not required
- βPrevious experience in working collaboratively with team members and communicating effectively
- βStrong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break large projects down into smaller ones and deliver on them through others
- βPassion for performance debugging and benchmarking
- βGood written and verbal communication skills
