About the Role

We are looking for a Video Systems Engineer to join Canva's Video Group, which is redefining how millions of people tell stories. This role involves designing and evolving core template engines and building powerful authoring tools for video projects.

Key Responsibilities

→Design and evolve core template engine and schema with frame-accurate precision
→Build powerful authoring tools and Template Modes for video projects
→Collaborate on cross-platform rendering across Web, iOS, and Android
→Develop modular, componentized video systems for complex VFX and animations
→Work at the intersection of Generative AI and templates for dynamic content adaptation

Requirements

✓Strong proficiency in C++ and experience with TypeScript or JavaScript
✓Solid understanding of data structures and complex hierarchies
✓Familiarity with graphics and video concepts including keyframes, layers, and rendering pipelines
✓Experience designing clean, extensible APIs and data models
✓Strong background in usability and craft, with experience collaborating with designers and engineers
