About the Role
The City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation department is seeking experienced Literacy Support Specialists for their 2026 Camp Fort Worth and Mobile Recreation summer day camp programs. This role involves working with students aged 5-12 to enhance their reading skills and inspire a love for literacy in a fast-paced, engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities
- →Teach reading instruction at age-appropriate levels
- →Facilitate educational programming through various lessons, activities, and games
- →Plan and present course content, preparing outlines for approval
- →Select appropriate teaching materials and arrange audio/visual equipment
- →Plan literacy-focused activities
- →Monitor, collect, track, and verify accurate records
- →Evaluate program effectiveness and collaborate with key personnel
- →Adhere to work schedules and City policies
- →Work independently and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff
Requirements
- ✓Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
- ✓Six months teaching experience in reading instruction, early learning, or elementary education
- ✓Valid Texas Driver’s License
- ✓Ability to work a maximum of 30 hours per week
