About the Role
We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer (AI Growth Lead) to drive AI adoption across Coinbase. This role involves working within AI Growth Pods to identify, prototype, and scale high-impact AI automation solutions, partnering with non-engineering functions to transform how we operate.
Key Responsibilities
- โLead AI Opportunity Discovery: Partner with leaders and teams to identify pain points and uncover high-leverage opportunities for AI automation.
- โDesign & Prototype AI Solutions: Apply advanced GenAI techniques to build functional prototypes addressing business needs.
- โDeploy Sustainable Solutions: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evolve prototypes into scalable, production-grade AI solutions.
- โAct as an Internal Consultant & Accelerator: Provide expert guidance on AI capabilities and mentor team members.
- โDrive Adoption & Enablement: Pilot new AI solutions with functional teams and support adoption.
- โCollaborate with Core AI Teams: Partner with central AI Platform and DevX teams to ensure scalability and security.
- โEnsure Responsible AI: Work with Security, Legal, and Compliance teams to adhere to strict guidelines.
- โMeasure & Communicate Impact: Define success metrics and communicate the value delivered by AI initiatives.
- โStay Ahead of the Curve: Continuously research and experiment with emerging AI models and tools.
Requirements
- โ8+ years of experience in software engineering or a highly analytical role, with at least 1+ years focused on applied AI.
- โStrong understanding of LLM capabilities, limitations, and architectures.
- โHands-on experience with AI tools and platforms.
- โProven ability to rapidly prototype and demonstrate working solutions.
- โProven expertise in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
- โStrong technical skills in system design, coding, and debugging complex technical issues.
- โDemonstrated ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into technical requirements.
- โStrong ROI-driven mindset with experience quantifying business value from technology initiatives.
- โOutstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- โHighly analytical and structured problem-solver, comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration.
- โExperience working cross-functionally with legal, security, compliance, and engineering teams.
- โStrong understanding of data privacy, security, and ethical considerations related to AI.
