About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join our Catalog Engineering team at Coupang. This role focuses on building and maintaining high-quality product catalogs through advanced machine learning systems.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design and implement end-to-end ML systems for catalog quality improvement, including product classification, attribute inference, normalization, and disambiguation
- →Develop and optimize large-scale predictive and generative models operating on billions of product records
- →Create ML pipelines for data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring
- →Apply state-of-the-art techniques in deep learning, representation learning, and similarity search
- →Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML systems into core workflows
- →Design and implement A/B testing frameworks to measure model impact
- →Establish best practices for ML engineering and reliability
- →Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
- →Contribute to the long-term technical roadmap for catalog systems
Requirements
- ✓10+ years of experience in software engineering and/or applied machine learning
- ✓4+ years of hands-on experience building production-grade, large-scale ML systems
- ✓Deep expertise in ML/AI/deep learning architecture, loss functions, optimization, and statistical modeling
- ✓Strong programming skills in Python and at least one of: Scala, Java, or PySpark
- ✓Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
- ✓Significant experience with large-scale data processing (SQL, Spark, data lakes, warehouses)
- ✓Experience deploying and operating ML systems in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- ✓Track record of leading complex technical initiatives and working with cross-functional partners
- ✓Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders
