About the Role
We are seeking a Staff Back-End Engineer to serve as a technical North Star for our engineering organization. This role involves shaping architectural patterns, infrastructure standards, and engineering habits to enable team scaling. You will partner with Engineering, Product, and Customer Success to transform business needs into robust distributed systems that power financial workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- →Define architectural direction and establish engineering patterns across teams
- →Design and evolve complex backend systems including multi-tenant database routing and distributed task orchestration
- →Lead adoption of AI-assisted development practices and LLM agent systems
- →Take ambiguous product goals and deliver them end-to-end from infrastructure to monitoring
- →Foster a culture of observability through structured logging, APM tooling, and metrics
- →Act as a technical leader during production incidents, guiding root-cause analysis
- →Mentor engineers and promote psychological safety alongside continuous improvement
- →Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing infrastructure, and deployment strategies
Requirements
- ✓10+ years of professional software engineering experience
- ✓Clear opinions on distributed systems and long-term architecture
- ✓Deep knowledge of Django internals including middleware and performance optimization
- ✓Strong experience building and evolving distributed systems across cloud infrastructure
- ✓Experience with dataframe-based computation tools like Pandas, Polars, or NumPy
- ✓Proven ability to define engineering standards and design reusable abstractions
- ✓Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows and LLM agents
- ✓Effective communicator able to explain architectural trade-offs to all levels
