About the Role
We are looking for a Backend Architect to join our Business Acceleration Track (BAT) team at DeepL. This role is responsible for architecting the backend systems for Identity (SSO/SCIM) and Billing, ensuring data integrity and designing distributed systems that handle high-frequency transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- →Architect for Consistency & Scale: Design backend systems for Identity and Billing, making high-stakes trade-offs between eventual consistency and strict ACID transactions in a distributed environment.
- →Own Data Integrity: Ensure ledgers are immutable, access controls are secure, and systems are auditable. Design for failure to prevent transaction loss.
- →Decompose Complexity: Convert messy business requirements into clean, maintainable backend architecture.
- →Drive Technical Excellence: Mentor the team on best practices for C#/.NET Core, gRPC, and Event-Driven Architecture (Kafka).
Requirements
- ✓A "Distributed Systems" Mindset: Understanding of microservices, idempotency, and distributed locking.
- ✓Domain Mastery: Experience with IAM, Fraud Prevention, or Fintech/Billing architectures.
- ✓High Agency: Proactively identify and fix risks, whether security vulnerabilities or scaling bottlenecks.
- ✓Pragmatic Architect: Choose reliable solutions over new tools, prioritizing stability in financial systems.
