About the role
Everway is seeking an Instructional Content Designer to craft and develop the framework for quality educational experiences and materials for students with significant cognitive disabilities. This position optimizes learning and enhances outcomes using integral instructional design principles, theories, and methods. The Instructional Content Designer collaborates with colleagues to create effective and impactful solutions to customer needs while supporting student learning.
Main responsibilities
β’ Utilize instructional design guidelines to craft positive learning experiences considering structure, accessibility, engagement, interactivity and continuity
β’ Own and execute needs assessments, document findings and communicate to relevant stakeholders
β’ Conduct instructional and educational research and communicate findings to internal teams
β’ Support in the creation and organization of instructional materials including scope and sequences and design matrices
β’ Design and develop quality educational experiences, considering structure, accessibility, engagement, interactivity, and continuity.
β’ Design assessments to adequately and accurately measure student outcomes and learning objectives
β’ Evaluate content to ensure it meets quality standards (including accuracy and appropriateness) and company goals, with support
β’ Work collaboratively with Product leaders, academic content authors, creative services, editors, AI, and technology teams through the instructional design process
β’ Develop resources that incorporate evidence-based practices, promote student engagement, and address diverse learning styles and needs
β’ Stay abreast of the latest trends, research, advancements, and legislation in education and implement as needed according to customer needs and education policies/standards
β’ Support in marketing, sales and customer success inquiries and requests
β’ Participate in focus groups, design committees and/or advisory board meetings with the instructional design lens
β’ Participate and/or lead training sessions and professional development
Essential Criteria
β’ 2+ years of experience in designing high-quality academic or instructional content for special education aligned to defined learning outcomes, standards, or competency frameworks
β’ Strong understanding of pedagogy and curriculum design, including the ability to translate learning objectives into structured, engaging instructional experiences
β’ Demonstrated knowledge of state standards, including extended or alternate standards for students with the most complex learning needs
β’ Highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to prioritize tasks
β’ Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Google Workspace
Desirable Criteria
β’ Bachelorβs Degree in Education, Special Education or related field and/or degree or certification in Instructional Design
β’ Previous experience creating digital content in a content and/or learning management system a plus
β’ Prior curriculum mapping/development experience in an EdTech role preferred
