The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Industry, Pharma and NGO/Foundations (IPN) team as an Account Manager on a fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Group Head, you will be responsible for managing and growing advertising revenue across a diverse portfolio of clients spanning sectors such as Industrial, Pharma and the third sector.
The role combines account management with new business development, requiring a proactive and commercially driven approach. You will work across a wide range of clients and specialist agencies, developing sector knowledge and building strategic relationships to unlock revenue opportunities. Success in this role will depend on disciplined pipeline management, strong collaboration across FT teams and the ability to deliver insight-led, outcome-focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Manage and grow advertising revenue across a diverse portfolio of clients and sectors
β’ Build and maintain strong, consultative relationships with senior stakeholders across clients and agencies
β’ Identify and convert new business opportunities, driving incremental revenue growth
β’ Lead the full sales cycle, including pitching, negotiation and closing complex deals
β’ Develop tailored, insight-led proposals aligned to client strategy, KPIs and outcomes
β’ Collaborate closely with internal teams including Editorial, Marketing, FT Live, Content, Research and Campaign Management
β’ Work with international FT colleagues to drive global client engagement
β’ Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting and CRM usage (Salesforce, Slack)
β’ Stay informed on sector trends, product developments and the broader media landscape
Required Skills and Experience
β’ Minimum three yearsβ experience in multi-platform media sales
β’ Proven track record of delivering against revenue targets and managing a sales pipeline
β’ Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
β’ Experience building long-term, consultative client relationships
β’ Demonstrated ability to generate new business and identify growth opportunities
β’ Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills
β’ Confident developing and delivering compelling sales pitches
β’ Experience working cross-functionally within a matrix organisation
β’ Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
β’ Proficiency in CRM systems such as Salesforce
Desirable
β’ Experience working with Industrial and/or Pharma sector clients
β’ Understanding of B2B media, corporate communications and thought leadership solutions
β’ Knowledge of global media markets and competitive landscape
β’ Experience working with specialist PR and media agencies
